The Ukrainian counter-offensive is going very hard due to the slow supply of weapons to Kyiv from the Western countries. The corresponding statement was made by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to him, the Ukrainian authorities calculated the time needed to prepare the offensive.
“We planned to start it in the spring, but this did not happen, because, frankly, we did not have enough ammunition and weapons, there were not enough brigades that would be trained to use these weapons, their training took place outside of Ukraine“, – TASS quotes him.
Zelensky said that due to the delay in the start of the counter-offensive, Russian troops have strengthened the defense, planted minefields, which seriously interfere with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian leader also noted that only now the Armed Forces of Ukraine have received demining equipment from Western partners.
On June 4, a counter-offensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which had been talked about in Kyiv for so long, began in the Yuzhno-Donetsk, Zaporozhye and Artemivsk directions. Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Ukrainian militants are not successful in any of the sectors of the front. In addition, they are suffering heavy losses, hundreds of pieces of equipment have been destroyed.
On July 21, the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, also announced that there were no results from the attempts of the Ukrainian counteroffensive. He also noted the disappointment of Western curators with such results. The Russian leader stressed that Kyiv “is not helped by either the colossal resources that were pumped into the Kiev regime, or the supply of Western weapons – tanks, artillery, armored vehicles, missiles, or the dispatch of thousands of foreign mercenaries and advisers.”
