An American soldier was accused of killing his wife in Anchorage, Alaska. four days after he reported her disappearance to the police.
21 year old Zarius Hildabrand charged with first- and second-degree murder and falsification of evidenceaccording to the protocol of the court.
Saria Hildabrand went missing for the first time on Monday.the day after she was last seen at the couple’s apartment complex, Anchorage police said at the time.
21 year old was a medic in the Alaska National Guardwhile her husband worked as an artilleryman for the US Army, according to NBC affiliate KTUU.
Court records show that Zarrius Hildebrand was charged on Friday after he Anchorage police found the body of Saria Hildabrand Thursday while searching for her using drones.
Zarius Hildabrand told police that he and his wife left with friends on August 5 to celebrate her birthday and did not return until the next morning. He assured that the girl went to work at about 10 am on August 6. and that he went looking for her after she still hadn’t returned home about 12 hours later, KTUU said.
According to the indictment, Saria Hildabrand’s colleagues told police they received text messages from her at 10:45 a.m. on August 6 that she would miss work.
Same day Zarius Hildabrand bought a 96-gallon trash can, a new set of sheets, hydrogen peroxide, and an empty spray bottle.
The court records do not list Zarius Hildabrand’s lawyer, who remained in custody at the Anchorage Correctional Complex until Sunday.
Meredith Barney, mother of Saria Hildabrand, told reporters after the indictment on Friday that her daughter was “the most incredible, precious little girl who ever lived.”
She said she began to suspect Zarrius Hildabrand “from the moment he called me from his cell phone.” “She’ll never give up her phone,” Barney said, adding that he’s not aware of anything out of the ordinary between the couple other than the usual “new-wedding” issues.
The couple met during basic training about a year ago, and a few months later, Sariya moved from Utah to Alaska.Barney said.
“She came to Anchorage, I mean in January or February. She moved here, well, first to be with him, and then also because she wanted to get into the medical part of the National Guard, and here it is much faster than in Utah, ”he said.
Working in the medical field has always been Sariya’s passion, so Barney said she was thrilled and proud to have her daughter embark on a new adventure.
“She has always looked to the future. She loved everyone. Everyone loved her,” he said.
