The island has its own sterling, UK postcode, and a population of 4,439. It might be considered a tropical paradise, but it has “classic British issues”.
One of the planet’s most isolated islands turns into “hell” on weekend evenings. The reason for this was the drunkenness, the “wild children” and the competing children who together created chaos. The Daily Star writes about it.
The overseas territory of Great Britain, the volcanic St. The island of Helena is located in the South Atlantic Ocean, about 2,000 km from Africa and about 3,000 km from South America. Another remote British site, Ascension Island, is the closest to Saint Helena at around 1300 km.
The island has its own version of the British pound, the UK postcode (STHL 1ZZ) and a population of 4,439 (as of 2021).
The capital of the island, Jamestown, is where most of the island’s inhabitants live. The publication states that Saint Helena can be considered a tropical paradise, far from boring English cities and the alcohol chaos that occurs almost every weekend, turning out to have the same problems.
Earlier this month, the government of Saint Helena issued a statement condemning antisocial behavior, drunkenness and criminal activity that has caused unnecessary damage in the lower half of Jamestown.
It is stated that the issue is “a minority of people harming their own society” and it is stated that the Government of Saint Helena is working with the British Mission in London to provide financial support for the implementation of solutions such as video surveillance systems.
“Civil security patrols” were also created.
Following this announcement, an editorial was published in one of the island’s two newspapers giving more detailed information about anti-social behavior.
Vince Thompson, editor of the St Helena Independent newspaper, wrote, “As someone who has spent the night in Jamestown once or twice, I am well aware that weekend nights are a hell for every resident.”
He recalled that, in the early morning hours of one Sunday afternoon, “several cars were heading towards the ramps, slowing down, going through it, and then accelerating at maximum speed immediately after.”
Other problems were with scattered garbage and broken bottles. Vince went on to describe some of Jamestown’s negligent youth as “wild”.
“I just looked at the definition of the word savage, it says: ‘to become savage after being tamed. This is similar to our case,” he wrote.
Focus had previously told the truth about the $4 million “miracle house” that had “survived” from a terrible disaster. The fires that have gripped the Hawaiian island of Maui since August 8 have killed 114 people and destroyed thousands of buildings. By fate or luck, the Millikin family made several significant changes to their home that saved him.
It was also learned that the villagers were too afraid to go out in the evening because of the gangs. The most common type of crime committed in the town are violent and sexual crimes. Last year, 538 events were recorded.
