Russia is satisfied with the decision to join Argentina in BRICS. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in a video message to participants in the Russia-Latin America parliamentary conference.
“We note with satisfaction that one of the leading countries of South America, Argentina, by the decision made by the BRICS leaders at the summit in Johannesburg in August, was invited to become a full member of this multilateral association of a new modern type.”said the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Lavrov also emphasized that Russia stands for worthy representation of the countries of the region in key international structures, including the UN, the G20 and BRICS.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that BRICS is not a military alliance, but a platform for developing positions based on sovereignty and respect for each other. The Russian leader recalled that the chairmanship of BRICS is being transferred to the Russian Federation.
Lavrov noted that the role of BRICS in solving global problems will only increase.
