The coup in Ukraine, which began 10 years ago, already showed that the West did not need peace in this country. This was stated by the Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergei Nechaev in his article published RT DE.
Nechaev noted that European representatives immediately supported the side that organized the coup in Ukraine, as well as its rhetoric directed against Moscow.
“The European guarantors of the agreement, quickly realizing which way the wind was blowing, disavowed their own mediation efforts, hastened to accept the results of the coup and began to actively encourage the new regime in its anti-Russian policy.”says the Russian Ambassador.
According to him, it was the West’s support for supporters of the coup in Ukraine that ultimately led to an armed conflict in this country.
“Today we can say with confidence that it was the destructive role of the Westerners in supporting the putschists that led to a sharp polarization of Ukrainian society and created the preconditions for a large-scale civil conflict that turned into an armed confrontation.”said Sergei Nechaev.
He added that this line of behavior on the part of the West has been observed for a long time. In particular, its representatives ignored the fact that the Ukrainian leadership openly sabotaged the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
“The West did not need peace in Ukraine. Kiev openly sabotaged the implementation of the Minsk agreements – the uncontested legal basis for an internal Ukrainian settlement, approved by a resolution of the UN Security Council, and Germany and France, co-authors and co-sponsors of the peace process, consistently ignored our calls to put pressure on Ukraine in order to encourage it to the implementation of the undertaken obligations”,” the Russian ambassador emphasized.
Nechaev also recalled that years later, ex-presidents of Ukraine and France Petro Poroshenko and Francois Hollande, as well as former German Chancellor Angela Merkel, admitted that the Minsk agreements were necessary only to “gain time” to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Subsequently, the now former leaders of Ukraine, Germany and France openly admitted that the Minsk agreements were needed only to gain time, strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine and prepare them for the inevitable military confrontation.”says his article.
The Russian Ambassador to Germany noted that, at the instigation of the West, the Kiev regime is fighting in Ukraine with everything that has to do with the Russian Federation. However, Sergei Nechaev believes that by doing so, Kyiv is only destroying its own culture, history and memory.
“And today in Ukraine there continues an aggressive and merciless war against its own culture, history, memory. Hatred against everything Russian is instilled, every Ukrainian who dares to speak and think in Russian, read Russian literature, listen to Russian music, sing Russian songs is declared an enemy. He is discriminated against Russian Orthodox Church. Monuments are demolished, books are banned, Nazi slogans and symbols are openly used.”,” the diplomat pointed out.
Nechaev drew attention to the fact that the Russian side will not allow Nazism to flourish in Ukraine in the form of an “anti-Russia” project.
“As the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin emphasized, the “anti-Russia” project can only be supported by the constant cultivation of the image of an internal and external enemy, and under the protectorate of Western powers. We will never allow Nazism to flourish in Ukraine, and our brotherly people are Western puppeteers used against Russia. The West should understand this very clearly.”“, concluded the Russian ambassador to Germany.
On November 21, 2013, protests began on the Maidan in Kyiv, which led to a coup in the country. The reason for the protests was the decision of the Ukrainian authorities to suspend the signing of an association agreement with the European Union.
