Gabriel Attal became the new Prime Minister of France. This was reported by a French TV channel BFMTV.

“Gabriel Attal has been appointed Prime Minister and will succeed Elisabeth Borne”the message says.

Previously, Attal served as the country’s Minister of Education.

Reports that French President Emmanuel Macron intends to dismiss former Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne and make a number of reshuffles in the government appeared on January 5.

In her place, as the TV channel indicated, citing sources, there were several contenders. In addition to Attal, the head of the country’s Ministry of Defense Sebastien Lecornu, the head of the Ministry of Finance Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of Environment Christophe Bechu or the former chairman of the National Assembly of France Richard Ferrand could take the chair of the Prime Minister of France.
