Foreign Ministry: everything that happens at the forum in Davos is funny

Everything that is currently happening at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, can be called funny. This was stated at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

“You know what’s funny, I think it’s really funny. The World Economic Forum in Davos this year is being held under the slogan “Restoring Trust.” This is not a joke, it’s true. This is such a motto. , it was planned to address issues such as ensuring security and cooperation in a fractured world, shaping job growth for a new era, developing artificial intelligence as a leading economic force, and a long-term strategy for climate, nature and energy.”noted Zakharova.

In her opinion, what is happening at the Davos forum indicates the loss of any prospects in the near future for restoring security on the European continent.

“As you understand, Davos is, first of all, European. It is clear that with the participation of the NATO component. But, first of all, the European continent and its trade, economy, and so on. What can we talk about? What kind of restoration of trust can we talk about , when a number of NATO countries declare, almost as if it were an obvious matter, so to speak, military operations in the European theater”, – the diplomat pointed out.

She added that by their actions, NATO, the USA, Great Britain and European countries, including during the forum in Davos, daily show themselves as an aggressor.

“For example, the strikes on Yemen. Did this add anything to the restoration of trust? No, this is another blow to trust. When they first came to the UN Security Council, they demanded that the Security Council once again issue an indulgence for strikes, and without receiving it , having distorted the meaning of the work of the Security Council, the next day they struck at a sovereign state. For example, as we said today, they supplied weapons to the illegally proclaimed government in Kosovo, which has no right at all to any activity in the field of military cooperation, separate from Belgrade, because it is part of Serbia. What kind of restoration of trust are we talking about?” – said the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

Maria Zakharova also drew attention to the fact that one of the topics of the forum in Davos is the conduct of a trade war by NATO states.

“Not just sanctions as a tool, but illegitimate, illegal sanction tools that the collective West has resorted to for many years in cases where it cannot support competition and, much less, cannot get ahead of its competitors in this competition. For example, within the framework of this “The same topic could consider the issue of blocking by the collective West of instruments created as peaceful ones for monetary and financial transactions, and using them, again, for the purpose of waging trade wars,” – said the diplomat.

According to her, the forum in Davos is yet another hypocrisy and staging on the part of the West. Zakharova also added that all the issues discussed at this event are only of a debatable nature and are based mostly on some “own calculations” and on materials from various financial organizations.

“Therefore, this is all just hypocrisy and another staging, which Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about in his article, by the way, published in”Izvestia” a year ago”, – concluded the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
