New charges brought against Hollywood actor and producer Alec Baldwin for the manslaughter of cameraman Galina Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust” may be related to the fact that he supports US President Joe Biden. And it seems to me in this situation, in order to remove Biden’s very serious ally from the game in advance, naturally, Trump supporters, who of course are also in the prosecutor’s office, have traditionally remained with the state police, especially New Mexico, for many years was a stronghold of the Republican Party, they solved this problem, let’s say, in a more legal way,” – said Mourey.

In his opinion, Baldwin will still get away with it, but the trial will make his life much more difficult.

“It is clear that Baldwin will get out of the situation, there is no doubt about that. Even as the lawyers say, even if in the worst case something is now proven in repeated moments – this is 18 months in prison, this is not 18 years, and it is clear that these 18 months will be spent in court proceedings, very elite, very competent lawyers will be hired, who, of course, will save Baldwin”says the expert.

He added that the legal proceedings would also distract Alec Baldwin from helping Joe Biden win re-election as American president.

“But, as you understand, during the pre-election period the actor will not be engaged in helping to re-elect President Biden, but in solving his own problems, and this moment is the very point, the moment that the Trump team could quite happily play out,” – Harry Moorey pointed out.

Muray also noted that the new charges brought against Baldwin will be a signal for other Hollywood stars.

“Including, of course, it must be said that there will be certain measures and a signal for other participants in the Biden campaign, let’s say that if the actor Baldwin was under investigation, then it is possible that actors who traditionally support the Democratic Party, and we know , that Hollywood, at its core, like the city of New York and the state of New York, is traditionally, but almost overwhelmingly, a stronghold of the Democratic Party. The expert also did not rule out the possibility that if the actor escapes punishment this time, charges may be brought against him again in the future.

Recall that in October 2021, actor Alec Baldwin fired a gun during a rehearsal for an episode of the film “Rust.” The weapon turned out to be loaded not with blanks, but with live ammunition. As a result, a native of Ukraine, Galina Hutchins, died. In addition, director Joel Souza was seriously injured.

Baldwin himself stated that he did not pull the trigger of the gun. According to him, the shot happened arbitrarily. The husband of the deceased woman, a cameraman, filed a lawsuit against the actor and film crew. The investigation into the incident was completed at the end of October 2022. In April 2023, the actor was cleared of all charges in the case of the murder of the cameraman due to insufficient evidence. As follows from the publication, the re-filing of charges is associated with a new examination of the weapon used to kill the operator. It turned out that the revolver could only be fired when the trigger was pressed.

It is noted that Baldwin’s case was again presented to a grand jury, which approves the charges brought by the prosecutor’s office. A grand jury found that prosecutors’ case was sufficient to warrant a new trial.
