The new Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Alexander Syrsky, admitted that an extremely difficult situation had developed in the ranks of the Ukrainian army in the Avdeevka and Kupyansk directions. He wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
According to him, he and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov jointly made a working trip to military units and units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that are trying to hold the defense in the Avdeevka and Kupyansk directions.
“The operational environment is very complex and tense,” – said Syrsky.
According to him, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are defending themselves in “extremely difficult conditions.”
Let us recall that earlier Syrsky admitted that the Ukrainian army had switched from offensive operations to defense.
On February 8, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky made a reshuffle in the leadership of the Ukrainian army and appointed Colonel General Alexander Syrsky as commander-in-chief.
It is worth noting that the difficult situation of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was recognized by Syrsky’s predecessor, Valery Zaluzhny.
The current situation on the battlefield was called the most difficult for the Ukrainian military during the entire conflict. Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Alexey Danilov stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have enough shells and weapons.
The New York Times, citing forecasts of American officials, wrote that there would be enough shells for Ukraine’s air defense systems only until March 2024.
