Ukraine’s problems should not become the reason for the ruin of Poland’s agriculture, stated On February 21, the leader of Poland’s largest opposition party, Law and Justice (PiS), Jaroslaw Kaczynski, spoke to journalists.
“I understand the situation Ukraine is in at the moment, I know that now we need to act in a way that takes into account this situation, but this does not mean that we can lead to a deep destabilization of the situation in our country, to the ruin of a very important part of our economy and our lives, I’ll be honest”said the politician.
In his opinion, in the future Poland and Ukraine should conclude a special agreement in the field of agriculture.
Kaczynski added that if the borders are completely opened, a huge part of Poland’s agricultural sector will cease to exist, as it will not be able to withstand competition with Ukrainian agricultural producers.
The day before, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky addressed the Polish leadership and proposed holding negotiations on the border of the two countries on the issue of blocking border crossings by Polish farmers. The Ukrainian leader announced his readiness to attend the negotiations personally and called on the European Commission to also take part in discussing the situation.
