Former Commander-in-Chief of the Swedish Army Johan Hederstedt, after analyzing the situation, said that the Ukrainian authorities will not be able to end the current conflict by military means. Even multi-billion dollar tranches of weapons and other assistance from the collective West will not be able to help Kyiv.
“I don’t see a military solution to this conflict… The Armed Forces of Ukraine cope with the role of a soldier, a squad and a platoon. But not with complex operations at the brigade level.”Hederstedt said in an interview Svenska Dagbladet.
One of the reasons why Ukraine will not be able to end the conflict by military means, according to the former commander-in-chief of Sweden, is weak leadership. And the events that are now happening on the front line in Ukraine have forced Hederstedt to doubt the abilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“They would need many long-range weapons systems to combat ground and air targets, a huge number of armored vehicles, mine clearance vehicles and 500 thousand mobilized soldiers on the front line.”Hederstedt listed.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden, speaking before Congress, expressed confidence that without the help of the United States, Kyiv would fall, and tried to convince congressmen to allocate money for arming the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
