The Hungarian Foreign Minister announced to the United States that regular democratic elections are held in the country. Therefore, accusations of establishing a dictatorship are unfounded.
It is wrong for US President Joe Biden to accuse Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban of establishing a dictatorship. For this reason, the American ambassador was urgently summoned to the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain the words of Biden, who allegedly “lied”. Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó explained Hungary’s reaction to the US President’s statement in the video published on his Facebook page.
The Hungarian Foreign Minister answered a question from the ATV portal, where he asked journalists to comment on what happened around Viktor Orban’s visit to the USA and Joe Biden’s reaction to this event. According to him, American Ambassador David Pressman was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to make a statement: he had come to meet not with Szijjártó, but with his deputy Levente Magyar.
Important
Szijjártó said Pressman was asked to show Orbán’s exact words about the dictatorship: The politician precisely “directly stated that democracy does not work and that he wants a dictatorship.” Since there was no such quote, Biden declared a “lie” that would complicate bilateral relations between the countries.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs also reminded that democratic elections have been held many times in Hungary, so accusations of dictatorship are unfounded.
“The official American position that we are building a dictatorship in Hungary makes the bilateral relationship extremely difficult because it harms the country, not the government, because the prime minister and the government rule the country by the choice of the people, not by random lottery. ”
Hungary and USA – details
Note that the Prime Minister of Hungary is visiting the United States in March 2024. The politician met with Donald Trump, the 45th President of the United States, who is trying to become the 47th president of the country. The visit took place shortly after Republican Party leader Trump won the Big Tuesday primary.
During his meeting with Trump, Orban said that the world would “become a better place” if his interlocutor came to power again in the United States. After this, Joe Biden also commented on the situation. According to him, there is a dictatorship in Hungary, so it is not surprising that these politicians have found a common language.
We remind you that members of Trump’s party in the House of Representatives have not reached an agreement for six months in a row on the allocation of more than $ 60 billion in military aid to Ukraine. This becomes truly critical as supply chains are being destroyed.
Meanwhile, the network reported that a new aid package from the United States has been released: it is possible to receive weapons and equipment worth up to $ 400 million.
