Diplomats appealed to Turkish Airlines due to the removal of Russians from flights

The Russian Consulate General in Istanbul demanded an explanation from Turkish Airlines regarding the increasingly frequent removal of the country’s citizens from flights since the beginning of March. RIA Novosti reports this with reference to the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Istanbul Andrei Buravov.

The diplomat said that the department was taking measures to clarify the situation, adding that such situations had happened before, but in recent weeks they had become “systemic.”

“The extent and form in which this is happening now has acquired an obvious systematic nature; this requires clarification and understanding.”– explained Buravov.

The number of complaints from Russian citizens against the Turkish carrier has increased sharply since the beginning of March. The bulk falls on those who had planned a transit flight to Latin America through the capital of Turkey.

According to the agency, passengers complain that they are kicked off flights due to lack of luggage, a “clean” passport, and sometimes without any explanation at all. Buravov adds that the reason for not allowing passengers on board was also the lack of reservation at the place of potential accommodation and (or) a return ticket.

In connection with this situation, some Russians began to change routes, heading to Latin America through other cities, in particular Dubai.
