Direct flights between Brest and Moscow will be launched on Wednesday, April 3, he said in a conversation with “Izvestia“ State Secretary of the Union State of Russia and Belarus Dmitry Mezentsev. He also noted that flights between Belarus and Vladikavkaz, Arkhangelsk, Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Omsk and some other cities of the Russian Federation are in development.
The leaders of the Belarusian and Russian regions, according to Mezentsev, have spoken many times about the need to expand the system of interregional connections with new flights. In this regard, he pointed out that a flight from Gomel had already been launched to Moscow, and on April 3 a plane would depart from Brest to Moscow and from Moscow to Brest.
As Mezentsev noted, flights to Vladikavkaz and Arkhangelsk will soon be established. He also added that flights to Tyumen, Ulyanovsk, Omsk and a number of other Russian cities are currently under development.
“We are expanding our tourism potential, we are opening our geography to each other, we are opening our cities, towns, our space, and, therefore, our souls”– said Mezentsev.
He also noted that Russia and Belarus have been developing cooperation for many years. The high level of interaction between the two countries, as Mezentsev pointed out, is not related to Western sanctions pressure. In particular, he noted that work on setting up cooperation within the Union State continues. In 2023 alone, mutual trade turnover between the two countries reached a record $54 billion, with about $25 billion coming from Belarusian exports to the Russian Federation.
