A Russian who found himself on a ship seized by Iran was given a phone

Russian Timofey Kolchanov, who found himself on board the Portuguese container ship MSC Aries seized by Iran in the Strait of Hormuz, was given a phone. The man was able to video call his wife. About it REN TV Timothy’s wife Maria said.

“Today, I think, thanks to this wide publicity, we were able to get such a result in the form of phones that were distributed to the entire crew. They were all able to contact their families,” – Maria said.

The wife of Timofey Kolchanov thanked the Russian Foreign Ministry, the Russian Consulate in Iran, as well as the journalists who helped draw attention to the incident with the seizure of the ship.

On April 13, the Portuguese container ship MSC Aries, associated with Israeli billionaire Eyal Ofer’s company Zodiac Maritime, was hijacked in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the Iranian Mehr agency, the ship was seized by soldiers of the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Later, Zodiac Maritime confirmed that they are related to the container ship seized by Iran.

In response to this incident, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz accused Tehran of piracy. Portugal turned to Iran for clarification.
