Pentagon chief says NATO will not expand in near future

NATO will not expand further in the near future. Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin made a corresponding statement during a press conference in Brussels.

According to him, he does not see any desire among NATO members to expand the alliance.

“I don’t see any desire or indication that we will be expanding at any point in the near future.”TASS quotes him.

Austin did not comment on NATO’s long-term plans to expand the alliance.

It is worth noting that even in the United States some politicians oppose the expansion of the alliance.

Thus, independent presidential candidate Robert Kennedy Jr. has already opposed NATO expansion, including at the expense of Ukraine. In his opinion, after the collapse of the USSR, the West should have integrated Russia into European society.
