Israel is ready for a military confrontation with Lebanon, but is giving a chance to resolve the situation through diplomatic means, the Jewish state’s ambassador to Russia, Simona Galperin, told journalists on Wednesday, July 24.

“We are absolutely not interested in a full-scale war with Lebanon”she emphasized.

The diplomat also did not rule out that the Jewish state would have to launch full-scale military operations on the northern front. She noted that Israel is ready for such a development, but is giving diplomacy a chance.

The ambassador compared the situation to a football match, recalling that the game lasts 90 minutes. The current situation between Israel and Lebanon is similar to the 85th minute of the match, which is quite close to the end of the game, Galperin concluded.

Earlier, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Jewish state is ready to defend itself by any means necessary. He called on the international community to support his country in the fight against Iran and its accomplices.
