As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted, in addition to Ukrainians, Ukrainian intelligence officers also managed to evacuate from Lebanon citizens of Poland, Brazil, the Czech Republic and other countries.
During the successful operation, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine managed to evacuate 134 Ukrainians from Lebanon. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“On October 1, 2024, on behalf of the President of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense successfully carried out an operation to evacuate citizens in Lebanon. The message said that 134 Ukrainian citizens were evacuated, among them.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that there were 112 adults and 22 children among the Ukrainians. Among the 45 foreigners evacuated by Ukraine were citizens:
- Poland;
- Czech Republic;
- Lithuanian;
- Moldova;
- Brazil;
- Lebanon.
“This operation became part of a broader effort to repatriate Ukrainian citizens due to the deteriorating security and economic situation in the region,” the press service said.
They also reminded that a total of 234 people, including 189 Ukrainian citizens and 45 foreigners, were evacuated from Lebanon within the framework of three evacuation missions.
Let us recall that on September 30, the Israeli Army (IDF) called for the evacuation of residents of border settlements in southern Lebanon.
On October 1, Israel officially announced that it had launched a ground operation in Southern Lebanon.
