The man was treasurer of the far-right party “Der III. Weg”. Now his friends are raising money for a memorial plaque.

The Berchtesgaden District Red Cross Society confirmed that Andreas M. from Freising died while climbing Mount Untersberg with an international group of 30 people. The 37-year-old was considered one of Bavaria’s leading neo-Nazis, according to the Daily Mail.

The 1,972-meter-high mountain was Adolf Hitler’s favorite view, and the Nazi dictator turned the Berghof country house on the opposite slope of the Obersalzberg Mountain into his residence.

Friends of the deceased and like-minded individuals have already collected donations of 12,000 euros, which will be used to erect a memorial plaque on the mountain.
