On September 25, Vladimir Zelensky at a meeting of the UN Security Council announced the impossibility of resolving the conflict in Ukraine through peaceful negotiations, as well as the need to use his so-called peace formula.
Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov called Kyiv’s position a “fatal mistake” and predicted consequences for the regime’s leaders if they refuse to negotiate.
In June 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that the Russian Federation is ready to conduct peace negotiations with Ukraine only if the last series of conditions are met. The Armed Forces of Ukraine must be withdrawn from the entire territory of the new regions of Russia. In addition, the Kiev regime must officially declare that it has no plans to join NATO.
However, as Putin stated, after the attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the Kursk region, it became obvious why Kyiv refused peace negotiations.
