I spoke with a doctor of sociology about the situation in the country, I told him that, as in all my disciplines of law and political science, we conduct long and complex studies and that the results often coincide with the answer that a citizen or a citizen without a formal investigation.
That is, we have information and contexts that allow us to form an opinion where the best guide, in terms of economy, will be reflected in the “pocket”, and in terms of security, how safe we feel.
For example, in my dissertation, one of the hypotheses was that the more crisis is felt, the more leadership is attributed to the ruler. In 2010, all of us, without the need for science, felt a crisis of uncertainty. Thus, during the year-long investigation, quantitative results showed that citizens perceived crisis in mexico both high impact and high threat.
As for the correlation between this perception of the crisis and the degree of leadership one is willing to attribute to the leader, it was negative: the greater the crisis, the less leadership is attributed. This could be explained by the fact that when measuring a crisis at the moment of its occurrence, the citizen was more likely to blame the one whom he considered responsible for the leadership.
What happens to the perception of security 12 years later?
In the days after Rosa Isela Rodríguez, Minister for Security and Citizens’ Protection, He submitted his monthly report. Based on data from the latest INEGI Public Safety Survey, he stressed that there has been a decrease in the perception of insecurity and an increase in trust in the military.
In principle, these are results obtained from public opinion, but through scientific research. I already mentioned at the beginning that it can be a “simple” opinion or a methodically obtained result, and that they can coincide regularly.
What does this mean for us? According to INEGI, September 2022 was the month when the population felt less insecure over the past 10 years. Perception was 64.4 percent, up from the highest peak of the past decade in March 2018 at 76.8 percent.
As for the authorities, the public perceived the secretary of the Navy as 84.9 percent effective in his activities, against 87.5 percent of his most reliable peak in March 2021 over the past 6 years. The National Defense has a robust 82.3 against its highest score of 84.9 in March 2021. National Guard more reliable at 71.9 compared to 70.9 obtained at the date of its creation.
The trust in the armed forces of our country has always been highly recognized, it is now important for us that the loyalty, work and discipline that characterized them can be strengthened in the same way in the security forces nearby. What do you think?
