An unusual Ukrainian SUV LuAZ for airports was shown on the Internet (photo)

A total of 164 copies of the LuAZ-2403 were produced from 1987 to 1988. Cars were busy pulling trailers at airports.

The Internet showed a rare Ukrainian SUV LuAZ-2403, designed to work on airfields. This is reported on the AmperCar website.

In the 1980s, the first prototypes of the LuAZ-2403 were created. They were used as airport tractors.

The SUV was equipped with an all-wheel drive system with a differential lock and wheel gears. It could tow trailers weighing up to 3000 kg.

LuAZ-2403 received a towing device securely welded to the frame. It has a cargo hook.

Features of LuAZ-2403:

  • engine – MeMZ-969A;
  • engine power – 40 hp;
  • gearbox – four-speed manual gearbox;
  • weight – 980 kg;
  • maximum speed – 80 km / h;
  • fuel tank capacity – 37 l;
  • ground clearance – 230 mm.

Dimensions LuAZ-2403:

  • length – 3390 mm;
  • width – 1610 mm;
  • height – 1770 mm;
  • wheelbase – 1800 mm;
  • front track – 1335 mm;
  • rear track – 1330 mm.

The body of the SUV was shortened, and the high roof remained just above the front seats. In total, from 1987 to 1988, 164 copies of the LuAZ-2403 were produced, all painted in yellow.

Only one LuAZ-2403 is known, which worked at the Kiev airport. Years later, the car was scrapped.
