American car manufacturer Dodge has unveiled the new Hornet R/T, the most powerful SUV in its segment. This plug-in hybrid model is equipped with a 1.3-liter V4 engine producing 285 hp.
The Hornet R/T also includes Dodge’s exclusive PowerShot feature, which delivers an additional 25 horsepower to further reduce acceleration times. In addition, this model offers an all-electric range of more than 30 miles thanks to a 15.5 kWh lithium-ion battery.
Hornet R/T styling includes sporty touches such as 18-inch Graphite Gray wheels, Dodge-brand fixed Brembo front calipers, dual exhaust pipes and shift paddles. It also offers a sport driving mode and three hybrid options: Hybrid, Electric and E-Save.
The Dodge user experience is highlighted in the Hornet R/T with its 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 10.25-inch center touchscreen in its class. Both screens are standard and provide a diagonal of more than 22.5 inches.
The Hornet R/T will hit dealerships in spring 2023 with orders coming on August 17, 2022. This model features a unique blue bottom trim and a rear apron with integrated dual exhaust ports. Headlights with LED reflectors and daytime running lights (DRLs) give a distinctive family look.
The Dodge Hornet R/T is a sporty and powerful vehicle offering a refined user interface and an all-electric range for drivers looking for a high-end plug-in hybrid vehicle.
On the other hand, it implements two strategies to optimize energy consumption: regenerative braking and electronic coasting. The first allows you to recover the kinetic energy generated during braking and store it in the battery for later use.
The second one is activated when you release your foot on the accelerator pedal and not only helps to regenerate additional energy, but also shortens the distance needed to stop the car.
Thus, these characteristics make the Hornet R/T PHEV an attractive alternative for those drivers who are interested in an economical and environmentally friendly vehicle.
