From 2020, electric vehicle manufacturer Smart has set itself the goal of only producing vehicles with this technology, not counting those produced with an internal combustion engine.
Two years later, the company officially revealed the name of the first model of the new generation, which, according to company reports, successfully passed the pre-launch test sessions.
It’s called Smart #1. A hashtag that is reminiscent of modern social media communication and makes us understand the many novelties of the technological car.
The new Smart is the work of Mercedes-Benz’s global design team in conjunction with the intelligent engineering department. Daniel Leskow, Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Aftermarket, Smart Automobile.
“The first product of our brand update, Smart #1, is the perfect combination of electric drive technology and premium quality. I’m sure it will delight future customers both in China and Europe. We are ready to discover new urban mobility trends. We want to create an engaging experience for all of our customers,” said Leskow.
With regard to its performance, these are electricity consumption in kWh/100 km (combined cycle) (NEC Directive); 18.2 (BRABUS), 16.8 (Premium), 17.4 (Pro+) CO2 emissions in g/km (combined).
The electric range is 400 km (BRABUS), 440 km (Premium) and 420 km (Pro+). It charges a 150kWh battery from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes, accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.7 seconds, has 19-inch alloy wheels, automatic LED headlights, hidden door handles and a roof. Halo Panoramic Roof.
Tests before entering the market
The car has been specially tested on snowy and icy roads, in conditions close to those of everyday urban winter driving. With Bosch’s proven ESP system and all-electric powertrain, the new car delivers comfort, stability, acceleration and braking performance.
The company guarantees that “safety and driving pleasure are guaranteed”. Having passed decisive tests before entering the market, even in the coldest season, the new car is a candidate for the role of the protagonist in the countryside and in the city in any conditions.
