In 2013, the BMW i3, the brand’s first electric car, broke into the electric car market before it was as booming as it is today. After more than 250,000 units sold and nine years in the arena, the prototype is being phased out.
While no specific replacement has been announced, the range is expected to be succeeded by the ix1, an all-electric version of the BMW X1, coming right after the ix3, the next-generation electrified MINI Cooper model.
The BMW i3 has influenced the automotive industry with its compact design, comfortable interior space, and modern and innovative design with good finishes in avant-garde materials.

The future of BMW

A senior UK executive told Autocar that customers looking for an all-electric city car ideal for city driving or a compact but spacious car for an active lifestyle would be ideally suited to a Mini Electric or BMW iX1.
