Not only for the UK: a unique right-hand drive “Tavria” was shown on the Internet (photo)

The right-hand drive ZAZ-11022 was created in 1991 for countries with left-hand traffic. Some cars received injection engines from Tavria 10 years ago for the Ukrainian market.

Few people know that the ZAZ-1102 “Tavria” was delivered to Western Europe in the early 90s. Special export versions of the model, even right-hand drive ones, were created. The Hyser website writes about it.

Right-hand drive “Tavria” (version received the designation ZAZ-11022) was created in 1991 for countries with left-hand traffic. A few of these cars were immediately delivered to the UK via the Lada UK dealer (VAZ was also delivered to the UK with right hand drive). The cars were registered, but they did not pass the certification.

Later, several ZAZ-11022s appeared in Malta. Over time, it ended up in Italy and Greece, although there was right-hand traffic in these countries.

From a technical point of view, most of the ZAZ-11022 differed little from the standard “Tavria”, in addition to the location of the steering wheel. However, some cars were given 1.2-liter fuel-injected engines. Recall that in Ukraine “Tavria” with injectors began to be sold only after 10 years.

To date, several ZAZ-11022 have survived. It is noteworthy that cars are registered not only in Western European countries, but also, for example, in Azerbaijan.

Previously Focus reported that the “humpback” ZAZ-965 is also produced with right-hand drive, but is not exported, it is supplied to the domestic market.

We also wrote about the unique electric car “Tavria” for Europe – it was found in Germany.
