The new CATL Shenxing battery provides a range of 400 km with a 10-minute charge. Huawei’s Avatr electric vehicles will be the first to receive it.
Chinese concern CATL presented a new generation of lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) battery. Its main advantage is ultra-fast charging. This was reported by Reuters.
Shenxing CATL battery is the world’s first LFP battery that supports class 4C fast charging. It will provide 400 km of power reserve in just 10 minutes of charging.
Features of CATL Shenxing include a modified electrolyte formula, a new graphite anode and a finer separator. The controller has also been improved and heat dissipation reduced – this is what ensures safe fast charging.
CATL Shenxing batteries are suitable for use in all kinds of electric vehicles. Another advantage of LFP batteries is safety, as they are less prone to overheating and burning than lithium-ion batteries.
Production of the Shenxing CATL battery will begin at the end of 2023, and deliveries will begin in 2024. Huawei’s Avatr electric vehicles will be the first to receive it – they will be able to travel up to 700 km without recharging. In the future, Shenxing may also get Tesla electric cars because CATL is the American automaker’s main battery supplier.
