Regular customers of the service station: which cars need to be repaired most often in Ukraine

Ukraine has its own car reliability rating. It was compiled at the Automotive Research Institute, based on the statistics of visits to service stations of Ukraine.

Experts from the Automotive Research Institute analyzed the information in a single database covering dozens of mid-level service stations in Kiev and other major cities of Ukraine. 20,000 cars were repaired and maintained in a month.

The most calls are made to the service station in Kiev (9337 times). It is followed by the Kiev (1680), Dnepropetrovsk (1243), Lvov (1998) and Chernivtsi (1115) regions. It is also noted that car repairs are mostly carried out on the first days of the month and at the beginning of the work week. The fewest calls to service stations were recorded on weekends.

Most often, owners of cars manufactured in 2019 turn to service stations in Ukraine – it was noted that such cases amounted to 1.2 thousand per month, or 9.3% of the total number. Cars of 2020 are in second place (1.1 thousand or 8.4%), and cars of 2021 (1 thousand or 7.3%) are in third place.

Moreover, the share of automobiles in 2007-2008 is quite large (5.9% and 6.7%, respectively). The fact is that in these years the heyday of the Ukrainian automobile market fell, after which 500-600 thousand new cars were sold annually.

But the 2022-2023 models were slightly repaired at the service station in Ukraine. This is because these machines are still under warranty, rarely break down and are often serviced at branded service stations.

Most visited Renault service station (3119 times). BMW is in second place (2,682 times) and Volkswagen (1891) is in third place.

The average repair cost of cars of different brands was also determined. Porsches are the most expensive to repair; an average of 15,910 hryvnia per service station visit. SsangYong (11,338 hryvnia) unexpectedly took the second place, while BMW took the third place (9885 hryvnia).

The car models that most often require repair are also determined. Renault Logan (1922 units), Peugeot 301 (714) and Volkswagen Passat (337 units) took place in the top three.

8. Skoda Fabia — 189 units. (2131 UAH).
9. BMW X5 — 185 units. (12971 UAH).
10. Skoda Scala – 175 units. (1878 UAH).

In addition, some regional characteristics draw attention. For example, the most frequently visited service stations in Kiev are Volkswagen Passat, Skoda Octavia and Volkswagen Golf, in the Volyn region the BMW X5, 5 Series and 3 Series.
