A dangerous defect was noticed in electric cars Audi E-tron GT and Porsche Taycan. It may cause the battery to catch fire. This situation was reported on the Carscoops website.
Audi and Porsche will recall 6,676 electric vehicles in the coming months. In E-tron GT and Taycan models, batteries may leak internally. This may cause sparks and subsequent fire.
The issue was first reported in 2022, Porsche said. At that time, there were reports that some Taycan electric vehicles had insulation problems in their batteries. After that, the manufacturer began to use Teroson sealant.
After a while, a similar problem was seen in electric vehicles in Europe. Using new sealant did not help correct the defect.
The recall will affect 4,777 units of the 2023 model year Porsche Taycan. Audi is also recalling 1,899 E-tron GT and RS E-tron GT.
Dealers will inspect the vehicles and check if liquid has entered the battery. If tests show that a leak is possible, the battery will be replaced.
Previously Focus Toyota RAV4 Prime and Lexus NX450h+ hybrid crossover models are being recalled in the United States, the company said.
