Volvo EX30 crossover became the best city car and the new BMW 5 Series/i5 was named the best premium model. Among sports cars, the electric Hyundai Ioniq 5N won. While the design award was given to the Toyota Prius hybrid, the person of the year was Adrien Newey, chief designer of Red Bull Formula 1 vehicles.
The World Car of the Year award has been given since 2005. The world’s best cars are determined by a jury of 100 automotive journalists representing 24 countries. Last year, the winner of the competition was the Hyundai Ioniq 6 electric car.
