French Prime Minister Elisabeth Born appealed to residents and enterprises with a call to reduce gas and electricity consumption as much as possible, otherwise the official predicted “hard blackouts” for the country.
“Against the threat of shortages in the coming winter, our only way is to save energy. If each of us does not play our part, gas and electricity blackouts could occur with serious economic and social consequences,” – quotes Born TASS.
The prime minister suggested that enterprises draw up “sobriety plans” to reduce energy costs. In early October, Born intends to meet with the leadership of a number of organizations to assess their plans and prospects.
The official also warned compatriots about the “difficult” years that await the country in the near future, but made a reservation that there is a chance to avoid a lack of gas. The situation with electricity, according to Born, depends on the pace of commissioning of nuclear power plant reactors, more than half of which were stopped for repairs and maintenance.
Recall that France, like Germany, failed in its search for a replacement for Russian gas. The leader of the country, Macron, was booed in Algeria, and in the Elysee Palace they are already ready to impose a tax on excess profits for large corporations and predict serious problems with fuel and further price increases.
