The eighth package of anti-Russian sanctions included a clause on setting a ceiling on the cost of Russian oil. However, the European Union immediately allowed options for exclusion from the regime established by itself.
Thus, according to the document, the limit applies only to crude oil, which is transported by sea to third countries, a number of petroleum products and services for their transportation.
“This does not apply in any way to those exceptions that allow certain Member States to continue importing crude oil and petroleum products from Russia due to their special situation or in the event that pipeline deliveries of crude oil from Russia are interrupted for reasons beyond their control”the document says.
Recall that officially the eighth package of sanctions was published on October 6, it comes into force on October 7. In particular, sanctions were also imposed against people – the restrictive list included 30 individuals and seven legal entities.
