According to Andriy Gerus, head of the relevant committee of the Verkhovna Rada, European countries are unable to provide Ukraine with the amount of equipment it needs to maintain uninterrupted electricity supply.
It will be possible to completely eliminate the consequences of the bombardment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the Ukrainian energy system only after the end of winter. This opinion was expressed by Andrey Gerus, Chairman of the Energy, Housing and Community Services Committee of the Verkhovna Rada.
“Repairs require equipment that takes at least six months to manufacture,” Gerus said.
In his opinion, the problem of repairing the energy system after rocket attacks on the invaders could be solved with the help of European technology.
“The equipment in the warehouses of our European partners is already going to Ukraine, it is being shipped quickly,” said the chairman of the BP Energy, Housing and Community Services Committee.
However, there are two nuances.
First, the Ukrainian energy system is constantly bombed by Russian invaders, and Europe lacks the required amount of equipment. It will take at least six months to make.
Secondly, not all European equipment is suitable for Ukrainian energy systems. For example, in some European countries, the voltage class of transformers differs from our standards. Ukraine repairs such equipment at the expense of its own reserves.
Gerus also evaluated the current situation in the domestic energy sector as of today.
According to him, more than 75% of the country’s electricity consumption needs are met. And only 25% of consumers have no electricity. But they (consumers – ed.) are constantly changing because there are programs to turn off the power supply one by one.
Recall that earlier Andriy Gerus said that Ukraine can import less than 10% of the electricity it needs. During peak hours, the country consumes about 16,000 MW and can only partially solve the electricity supply interruption problem.
Also, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba talked about how Ukraine can resist the power cut. According to him, if Ukraine cannot supply the required number of air defense systems and transformers, the situation in the energy sector will begin to resemble a vicious circle due to the constant missile attacks of the RF Armed Forces.
