No panic: Ukrainians explain how electricity tariffs will increase in 2023

According to the head of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky, from January 1, 2023, electricity prices for businesses will not increase at all.

Electricity tariffs will be reviewed, but the increase in electricity transmission from the main grids will be minimal. This was expressed during the telethon by the head of Ukrenergo Volodymyr Kudrytsky.

According to him, from January 1, 2023, the price of electricity for work will not increase at all. Tariffs for the transport of current through the main networks will be increased by a few kopecks – by 1.3-1.5% of the cost of electricity for work. Now most domestic enterprises pay about 5-6 UAH per kilowatt hour.

“And this price includes both the price of the actual electricity produced at power plants, and the tariff for the distribution of electricity by the oblenergo and Ukrenergo networks, that is, the tariff for transmission over the main networks,” said Vladimir Kudritsky.

How long will the power outage last in Ukraine?

The power outage, which Ukrainians have been experiencing with planned/emergency cuts for a long time, will continue until the end of winter. As Volodymyr Kudrytsky, chairman of the board of directors of Ukrenergo, explained, the lack of capacity in the energy system emerged in the wake of large-scale missile attacks from Russia.

“According to the current situation, from the current composition of the generation, we understand that the deficit will exist at least in the autumn-winter period. It can be partially compensated by some measures such as imports, but not completely.” .

However, with the arrival of positive temperatures in Ukraine, efforts to restore the generation capacity of power plants will accelerate significantly. This means that the available amount of electricity generation will gradually increase, thereby reducing the deficit.

Recall that in Ukraine they changed the rules for calculating amounts in electricity payments due to partial cuts. In case the meter readings are not transmitted in due time, the amount of electricity consumed is charged by taking into account the reduction factor.

Focus He previously wrote about how the prices of some utilities in Ukraine have changed since December of this year. As you know, the Cabinet of Ministers imposed a moratorium on the increase in the cost of public services for the population since the start of a full-scale war with the Russian Federation.
