For the fourth consecutive day, there is no electricity consumption restriction at night, despite the difficult situation in the electrical system due to the relatively warm weather.
On Wednesday, December 28, the power outage in the system increased in Ukraine. Reason: closing of some power plant blocks due to enemy bombing of gas infrastructure in the east. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrenergo company.
At the same time, it was noted that there was no restriction on electricity consumption at night for the fourth consecutive day due to the relatively warm weather.
“As a result, however, the available capacity in the system is not enough to meet all the needs of consumers in the country. Therefore, consumption limits have been imposed in all regions and the excess leads to the need for emergency shutdowns,” the report says.
The company also recalls that in the period from October to December 2022 Ukraine’s energy system was based on 9 missile strikes and 12 attacks by Russian UAVs.
“Therefore, generation facilities and transmission systems have suffered large-scale and complex damage. Significant resources and time are needed to restore them,” Ukrenergo said.
Power engineers warn that the Russians are unlikely to abandon the practice of bombing critical infrastructure, so experts are preparing for any possible scenario and will restore the energy system under any circumstances.
Recall, on December 27, Petr Panteleev, deputy head of the Kyiv City State Administration, said that planned and emergency power cuts in Kiev will continue throughout the winter. According to the official, the situation in the energy system remains difficult, but city officials are trying to make residents feel comfortable.
Meanwhile, the USA has problems in the supply of equipment for the repair of power plants in Ukraine. Therefore, in the broadcast of the CNN edition, it is said that some expensive technologies cannot be used in Ukraine due to the difference in network frequencies.
