According to German Energy Minister Galushchenko, the import volume is now small. However, Ukrainian businesses can already buy.
From January 1, 2023, Ukraine started to import electricity from Europe, but so far these volumes have not been enough to completely fill the gap. This was expressed by the German Minister of Energy Galushchenko.
The head of the relevant ministry said, “At the moment, imports are small, but they continue.”
He explained that several traders are currently dealing with electricity imports. Specifically these are:
- joint stock company “Ukrainian Energy Company”;
- LLC “DTEK”;
- private trader “ERV”.
According to Galushchenko, Ukrainian businesses had the opportunity to buy electricity. And this in turn will affect supply and its possible limitations in supply.
The Ministry of Energy expects to continue purchasing electricity to close the domestic deficit. However, the agency acknowledges that the volume and quality of imports will depend on the security situation in Ukraine.
“Future bombardment of the energy system will depend on what kind of damage there will be, but of course we also rely on imports,” Galushchenko added.
Recall that DTEK explained why Ukrainians turn off the light at night. According to Sergey Kovalenko, CEO of Yasno (a company that is part of the DTEK holding), many thermal and nuclear power plants are currently under repair, and water-based electricity generators take time to regain their capacity.
Focus He also wrote that Ukraine has created a consumer category that will not turn off the light. These will include industrial consumers importing electricity from EU countries.
