“One battalion is not enough”: the Polish general called the condition of the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

According to Waldemar Skrzypchak, the former commander of the Polish ground forces, Ukraine needs up to 20 battalions of modern tanks for the offensive. The Army said that to defeat Russia, the Armed Forces of Ukraine needed about fifty tanks.

Waldemar Skrzypczak, the Polish general and former commander of the Polish ground forces, said that Ukraine needs “several battalions” for an effective counterattack and up to 500 modern tanks for victory overall. He criticized the West for slow delivery of weapons to the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This is known from the material “Ukrinform”.

“One battalion of tanks is not enough. For an effective counterattack, the Ukrainians need 16-20 battalions of modern tanks. It is necessary to have a strong armored fist of several battalions that can break through the defenses and continue the retreat. The Russians,” a professional tanker told the reporter.

Skshipchak criticized the West for not providing quick enough military aid to Ukraine. According to him, political decisions are taken “too slowly” by countries. The Polish general stated that they have only now taken the tanks, although the Ukrainian defenders demanded them back in the autumn. He believes that for the victory of Ukraine in 2023, the West should stop supplying the tank with the “release method”, that is, only one battalion for six months.

“Decisive steps must be taken that will give the Ukrainian army a qualitative advantage over the Russian army. European countries should give Ukraine more tanks than their own arsenal, and then replace them thanks to the production of new armored vehicles. The former commander of the Polish ground forces said that Ukraine’s 400-400-gun army to defeat the Russians. “It needs 500 modern tanks,” he said.

The military noted that this is not just about the Leopard, but also about other modern tank types, the Abrams and Challenger.

Recall that today the Norwegian Minister of Defense Arild Gramm visited Kiev. Announced the supply of NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine in cooperation with the USA. The country previously provided weapons equipment and helped train Ukrainian defenders to use them.
