Additional payment to pensions: how Ukrainians can increase payments to loved ones (infographic)

Pension Fund talked about how you can support your loved ones, acquaintances or all retirees in general with the help of charitable donations.

At the beginning of March 2023, a charitable donation system was launched in Ukraine, through which pensioners can increase their pension payments. Meanwhile, the essence of the idea was explained in detail in the Pension Fund.

Who can make a charitable donation?

According to the PFU, any legal or natural person, citizen living in Ukraine or abroad and wishing to participate in the financing of pension payments, has such an opportunity.

Donations can be made to a separate Pension Fund account. You can pay a certain amount which will then be paid to a certain pensioner or used by the PFC as an additional financial resource.

Types of charitable contributions

Contributions fall into two categories: personalized or impersonal. The first category of contributions is distributed as follows:

  • 70% of the amount is towards the payment of a pension to an elected pensioner;
  • the remaining 30% is intended to finance the pensions of all retirees.

If the benefactor makes an impersonal donation, the full amount is used to pay pensions in the solidarity system. This means that the entire donation will be distributed among all retirees.

What are charitable pensions?

On March 6, Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak announced that in 2022 the Verkhovna Rada legalized charitable contributions to the payment of pensions. These contributions will be transferred to a specific citizen who already receives a pension and has an account in the Pension Fund.

According to him, every citizen living in Ukraine or abroad can donate any amount to charity in the PFC to help increase the amount of pension payments, for example, for:

  • parents;
  • grandmothers;
  • grandparents;
  • reckless person

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced on March 28, 2023 that in April some Ukrainians’ pensions will be recalculated. According to him, the recalculation will affect 600 thousand working retirees, taking into account the increase in seniority.
