What happens to gas in European markets?
European natural gas prices fell sharply in May to the levels of two years ago. Thus, on May 25 at TFT in the Netherlands, the cost of gas was fixed at 24.2 euros per megawatt-hour (about $275 per thousand cubic metres).
At the same time, against the background of the energy crisis, gas prices in 2022 reached an unprecedented level of 340 euros per megawatt-hour.
Recall that despite hostilities, the situation with gas production in Ukraine did not become problematic. Thus, at the beginning of 2023, the Ukrgazvydobuvannya company, which is part of the Naftogaz group, announced that 12.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas (commercial) was produced by the end of 2022.
