The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) suspects that the commander of one of the military units in the Donetsk region has devised a scheme to pay imaginary “battle” surcharges to soldiers in the rear. In addition to the commander himself, four of his subordinates were also involved in the plan, they were already suspicious. This was reported by the press service of the GBR.
The plan was in effect for seven months, during which the attackers managed to embezzle about 5 million hryvnia. According to the investigation, the suspects included in the payment lists nine soldiers who did not serve in the combat zone and did not come to the front, but received all the payments stipulated by the law.
From March to September 2022, these soldiers were transferred to the card on a monthly basis. for 100 000 UAH. During the searches, documents on the execution of the fictitious payment plan were seized from the defendants.
Now a restraining order is issued in the form of arrest, the suspects face up to 12 years in prison with the confiscation of their assets.
