Daniil Getmantsev, deputy and chairman of the Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy, said how much Ukraine spent in 2023 on its security and defense.
Ukraine’s security and defense expenditures in 2023 will exceed 1 trillion hryvnia. This was said by Daniil Getmantsev, chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
According to him, the current spending figures will be several times the 2022 figures.
“Military expenditures planned by the end of the year will be UAH 1.66 trillion, or 54% of all planned state budget expenditures. The current burden is even greater: according to the results of the first five months, we see that defense spending has increased. Getmantsev, security, public order and the structure of public order in the consolidated budget He said they accounted for 60 percent of his expenses.
How much was spent in 2022?
According to the politician, last year Ukraine’s security and defense expenditures amounted to 1.54 trillion UAH.
“Due to the tax and non-tax revenues of the state budget (without international grants), they were financed with UAH 1.3 trillion, which we met through domestic borrowing and NBU emissions,” said Daniil Getmantsev.
He also said that Ukraine will continue to strengthen its defence, given the ongoing war with the aggressor. This year, however, the situation with expenditures will be slightly different, as the Central Bank has decided not to resort to the emissions coverage of the budget deficit.
Therefore, now, according to the MP, the lack of military spending is being compensated by the issuance of government bonds at auctions.
Spending and war: how much does Ukraine spend per month
The struggle for independence costs our country about 130 billion hryvnia per month. According to Finance Minister Sergei Marchenko, the amount of defense spending could still increase.
“The main task is to create conditions for financing the military budget (after all, the state budget generates revenue of 80 billion hryvnia, and 130 billion hryvnia is spent per month on military action),” said the minister.
Earlier it was known that the plan of tax revenues to the state budget was over-fulfilled by 10 billion hryvnia. According to Daniil Getmantsev, this money will be transferred for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
