Grain deal – Ukraine lost $18 billion in revenue due to port blockade

As noted in the Ukrainian Federation of Transport Employers, the international community witnessed the Russian Federation’s audacious piracy at sea, but quietly acknowledged it.

Due to the port blockade, Ukraine has already lost at least 10% of GDP, foreign exchange earnings of $18 billion, 500,000 jobs and UAH 135 billion in taxes. According to the Federation of Transport Employers of Ukraine (FRTU), losses are comparable to the budget of our country’s expenditure on education or health care.

It was noted that Russia, within the framework of the “grain agreement”, managed to legalize the “right to piracy” at sea, thanks to which the aggressor country fully controls Ukraine’s foreign trade in the Black Sea and the Bosphorus.

“The international community has witnessed and unfortunately actually joined in on the audacious piracy in action,” the agency said.

At the same time, the Russian Federation retains the ability to trade freely and generate income from exports. Therefore, the Transport Employers Federation is confident that in the near future the Ukrainian ports should be completely unblocked. To do this, you need to take a number of steps according to the department.

“We need to get the support of foreign partners who can provide Ukraine with all the necessary weapons. Thus, Russia can forcibly put an end to terrorist and pirate attacks on free commercial shipping to Ukrainian ports. Measures such as integrated tracking, missile defense, detection and destruction of sea mines are also needed to strengthen the defense sector and ensure the security of ships in the Black Sea region,” FRTU said.

It was previously reported that Russia wants to completely remove Ukraine from the world food market. As Financial Times observers know, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed an “alternative” grain venture, according to which Qatar would pay Moscow to deliver Russian grain to Turkey.

Also, remember that on July 21, the White House selected the most likely route for Ukrainian grain exports. According to John Kirby, grain from Ukraine will likely be exported by land. However, this route is less efficient than sea routes.
