“Building the Ukrainian SSR of the 30s”: the co-founder of “Nova Poshta” criticized the Ukrainian authorities (video)

Businessman Volodymyr Popereshnyuk believes that Ukrainians “have already tasted freedom”, so the Soviet economy will not take root in the country.

Volodymyr Popereshnyuk, co-founder of Novaya Poshta, said that the Ukrainian authorities built the Ukrainian SSR of the 1930s. He said this at the “Future Economy: Challenges, Threats, Opportunities” discussion panel at iForum-2023.

“The authorities are building us the Ukrainian SSR of the 1930s. We have our own industrialization, called the Great Restoration, there is the expropriation of farmers – this is what Getmantsev does (Daniil Getmantsev, head of the Verkhovna Rada tax committee Volodymyr Popereshnyuk, “We have been running the FOPs for four years already “We have our own work camps that they plan to build for us, and that’s how we’re constantly being tightened up,” he said.

The entrepreneur noted that the situation was better in the early days of a full-scale invasion. According to him, at that time there was an atmosphere of freedom, economic freedom. However, it “twists and twists” every day.

Popereshnyuk emphasized that the Soviet economy does not work in Ukraine.

“I must say that the Soviet economy does not work. No matter how they build it, no matter how they plan, entrepreneurs still work,” he explained, adding that nothing will come of it, “because the Ukrainians have already tasted freedom.”

Recall, on May 15, the European Commission prepared a “positive” economic forecast for Ukraine. The Ukrainian economy is expected to grow by 0.6% this year and 4% in 2024.

On May 1, Vahram Stepanyan, Permanent Representative of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to Ukraine, said that international partners are ready to participate in the reconstruction of Ukraine. Ukraine should strengthen its local revenue mobilization to finance its social and infrastructure needs. In addition, an extended four-year financing program between the IMF and Ukraine would help stabilize the Ukrainian economy.
