13 Russian banks have begun testing the digital ruble, and more than a thousand real transactions have already taken place. This was announced by the first deputy chairman of the Central Bank (CB) of Russia Olga Skorobogatova, whose words are quoted “News”.
It is noted that among the declared banks are DOM.RF, VTB, Qiwi Bank, MTS-Bank, Sovcombank, Rosbank, Alfa, Ingosstrakh Bank, Gazprombank, Ak Bars, PSB, Sinara and TKB.
“Those 13 banks that we named, they really started to offer their customers the service of opening a wallet in a digital ruble and conducting transactions”– said Skorobogatova.
According to her, several thousand transactions have already taken place, including payments in trade and service enterprises and transfers to each other.
13 banks are participating in the experiment, 16 more are ready to become participants in 2024.
After some time, ordinary citizens who are clients of banks participating in the testing will be able to join the pilot project.
The digital ruble has been developed by the Central Bank since 2020. It is the third form of the national currency, the first two are cash and non-cash. Earlier, the Bank of Russia approved the digital ruble logo.
