Andrzej Duda said that the Polish government’s decision to extend the ban on the sale of grain from Ukraine on the Polish market was correct.
Poland has prepared transit corridors for the export of Ukrainian grain. This was announced by Polish President Andrzej Duda on TVP1. transmits office.
“Poland has prepared transit corridors through which Ukrainian grain can pass through Poland and be exported to where it is needed,” Andrzej Duda said.
He stated that Poland is trying to help Ukraine and other countries that need this help. According to Duda, during a full-scale war, little Ukrainian harvest reached the countries in need. But Poland does not need Ukrainian grain because the country is self-sufficient thanks to Polish farmers.
Moreover, Andrzej Duda said that he found the Polish government’s decision to extend the ban on the sale of Ukrainian grain on the Polish market correct.
“But we must do everything to ensure that the transit (of Ukrainian grain) is as large as possible,” he added.
Let’s remember, on September 12, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that the country would not open the border to Ukrainian grain imports. He stated that this was necessary to protect Polish farmers.
On September 18, Polish Minister of Agriculture Robert Telus said that Poland would block Ukraine’s accession to the EU if the grain export issue is not resolved.
On September 19, Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Taras Kaczka said that Ukraine would embargo some vegetables and fruits from Poland due to the grain import ban.
On September 21, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki expressed concern that Ukrainian oligarchs would influence the Polish grain market. According to him, relations between Ukraine and Poland are “tense” due to disputes over the grain market.
