Egg prices have risen in Russia due to high demand growth, and not just due to inflation, said the interview RBC head of the Central Bank Elvira Nabiullina. According to her, with a high rise in prices, a situation often happens that a particular product becomes more expensive.

“Unfortunately, there are common reasons. First of all, in our case, it is that high demand growth is outstripping supply capabilities,” – explained Nabiullina.

The head of the Central Bank noted that in 2021 there was also a similar situation, when prices for one type of goods first increased, and then prices for other items rose sharply.

The Russian Ministry of Agriculture promised that prices for chicken eggs in Russia will stabilize after the New Year. The import of these products from foreign countries should influence the reduction in prices.

Let us remind you that Rosstat stated that chicken eggs rose in price by 15 percent in November. Later, the Ministry of Agriculture announced that egg prices should stabilize within a month. The department added that stabilization of prices for chicken eggs is expected after the New Year. For this purpose, eggs from Azerbaijan began to be imported to Russia at zero duty. Deliveries from Turkey are also expected.

During the summing up of the year, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the situation with rising prices for chicken eggs and chicken meat in Russia is associated with a disruption in the government, as well as with an increase in demand. The head of state promised that this situation would be corrected in the near future.
