Gas and gasoline are becoming cheaper in Ukraine: how much will prices fall – people’s deputy (video)

According to Alexei Ustenko, a member of the Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy of the Verkhovna Rada, fuel prices will continue to fall over the next few weeks, and then everything will depend on the situation on the world market.

Fuel prices are falling in Ukraine and this trend may continue in the coming weeks. Deputy Aleksey Ustenko, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Finance, Taxation and Customs Policy, spoke about this issue during a national campaign on December 26.

According to price monitoring of the market by the A-95 consulting group, the average price of A-95 gasoline over the weekend decreased by 38 kopecks per liter, reaching 51.44 UAH. The price of A-95 Premium dropped by 19 kopecks per liter – the average price is 54-58 UAH per liter. The cost of diesel fuel is 51.65 UAH. According to Ustenko, prices for liquefied gas were previously high due to problems on the Polish border.

“The price of liquefied gas was high because there were some delays at the border – some of the liquefied gas got stuck. Gradually we see a decrease in the price. The wholesale price of liquefied gas is about 23 hryvnia, 40-45 hryvnia per liter.” thousand per ton. “Today, we see that prices at gas stations are gradually decreasing and reaching 29.5-31 hryvnia per liter,” he said.

According to Ustenko, since the wholesale price is now cheap, the price will continue to fall and the expensive resource will gradually be depleted and replaced by cheaper fuel that was purchased earlier. According to him, the same situation is observed in gasoline and diesel.

“In almost a year this is probably the lowest price of diesel fuel. For example, on the Romanian border the wholesale price is 41.-41.5 UAH per liter. So we will also see a small but decrease in the price of diesel fuel and gasoline “, noted Ustenko.

How long will fuel prices last?

Ustenko stated that the further behavior of fuel prices will depend on global news and the condition of the market. At the same time, the planning horizon is quite short because logistics has completely changed in Ukraine. Thus, before the start of a full-scale war, diesel fuel and liquefied gas were imported into Ukraine mainly by tankers or by rail. But today it is mainly road transport. To a lesser extent – rail transport.

“So what we actually have today is the spot price with a forecast for one or two weeks. It is clear that if prices rise on the world market, they will also rise in Ukraine. But there are no prerequisites for an increase in prices. Oil prices are not for today,” Ustenko summarized.

Let us recall that on December 22, the chairman of the parliamentary tax committee, Daniil Getmantsev, said that Ukraine was still deciding on revising excise taxes on autogas to combine them with excise taxes on gasoline and diesel.

Let us also remind you that fuel taxes in Ukraine will return to the pre-occupation level as of July 1, 2023. For this reason, prices at gas stations have increased rapidly.
