Some Ukrainians will receive a double increase in their pensions in April: How much will the payments increase?

Retirees who continue to work may not receive a raise in April. For them, recalculation will occur after leaving work.

In April, some citizens’ pension payments will be increased by 520 hryvnia. This applies to retirees over 65 years of age and with at least 30 years of experience for women and 35 years for men. This was reported by the publication “On Retirement”.

According to Ukrainian legislation, such retirees cannot receive payments below 40% of the minimum wage.

Increasing the minimum wage in Ukraine

Starting from January 1, wages in Ukraine increased to 7,100 hryvnia, but the recalculation of payments for pensioners over 65 years old was postponed until March, to be carried out together with annual indexation. Therefore, from March 1, 65-year-old citizens with full work experience began to receive another 160 hryvnia – 2840 hryvnia instead of 2680.

Recalculation of pensions from April 1

Starting April 1, Ukraine will increase the minimum pension again to 8,000 hryvnia. As a result, there will be a recalculation of pensions for retirees in this category; in particular, it cannot be below 3,200 hryvnia. Due to the two-fold increase in pension payments, Ukrainians will receive an increase of 520 hryvnia.

Who will not receive increased payments?

There will be no raise for 65-year-old retirees who continue to work. Their payments will change only after dismissal and recalculation of pensions taking into account the current minimum wage.

Let us remind you that during the indexation of pensions in March, payments did not increase for all retirees and were significantly less than expected. The Pension Fund noted that there were several reasons for this.

Previously, the PFU said that Ukrainians will be able to find out the size of their future pension and retirement age through a “pension calculator”. To do this, you need to enter your data and income amount into the electronic service.
