Nikita Mikhalkov first appeared on stage after hospitalization

Russian director Nikita Mikhalkov took to the stage for the first time since his hospitalization. He played in the play “12” based on his painting of the same name at the Theater of Satire.

After the performance, he thanked the doctors for their help, and the fans for their support and concern for his condition.

“I want to thank all of you. So many of you were worried about me. There are doctors who treated me.”he noted.

The audience greeted Mikhalkov with a standing ovation, noting his courage: the famous actor and director took the stage after a serious illness. For several days he was literally on the verge of life and death, and still immediately went on stage as soon as he recovered a little.

Recall that at the beginning of the year Mikhalkov was hospitalized with the flu. The director’s condition was assessed as moderate.

On January 24, the director was discharged from the hospital. On January 26, he already announced his first appearance on stage.

“12” is a performance-reflection about freedom, compassion and help. The production raises one of the most difficult questions: “The law is above everything, but what to do when mercy is above the law?”
