Theater and film actor Vladimir Kuznetsov died at the age of 80. Many people remember this talented artist from the rock opera “Juno and Avos” and the film “Battle for Moscow”. Kuznetsov did not pursue deafening fame, but his charisma and skill still did not go unnoticed. Most of his life, Vladimir Alekseevich served in Lenkom – he worked with Andrei Tarkovsky and Mark Zakharov. The actor shone in the performances of “Hamlet”, “Till” and “Cruel Intentions”, starred in films and detective series.

The beginning of a career, loyalty to “Lenkom” and a role in “Juno and Avos”

Vladimir Kuznetsov was born on October 3, 1943 in the Chelyabinsk region. The young man thought about the career of an artist and went after his dream from the small town of Troitsk to Moscow. There he studied at the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio, and in 1969 the aspiring actor was invited to Lenkom. The famous drama theater took a special place in the life and heart of Vladimir Kuznetsov – the actor remained faithful to Lenkom for 45 years.

He played in the performances of Mark Zakharov and Andrei Tarkovsky. On account of the artist countless diverse and vibrant roles. Kuznetsov shone in productions of The Star and Death of Joaquin Murieta, Till, Hamlet, Cruel Intentions, Optimistic Tragedy. Vladimir Alekseevich also worked with the Mosconcert and the Theater of Music and Poetry under the direction of Elena Kamburova.

A resounding success came to Kuznetsov after the role of a naval officer in the film-play “Juno and Avos”. According to the plot, the diplomat and traveler Nikolai Rezanov, wishing to establish trade relations between Russia and America, goes to California. There he meets the young beauty Conchita and falls in love with her at first sight. Feelings are mutual, but the heroes are not destined to be together – they are separated by death. The premiere took place in 1981, the main roles were played by Nikolai Karachentsov and Elena Shanina. The bright rock opera has become the hallmark of Lenkom, and every year its success has only grown.

Secondary Role Master

In 1969, Kuznetsov began acting in films. The directors did not see him as the main character, and Vladimir often got small secondary roles. However, this did not prevent the talented actor from finding his audience.

Kuznetsov fell in love with the public in the films “Battle for Moscow”, “Sea on Fire”, “The Collapse of Operation Terror”. all projects, masterfully got used to the role, and his multifaceted talent became an adornment of any picture.

A special place in Kuznetsov’s acting career is occupied by the biographical film “Valery Kharlamov. Extra Time”, where he played the role of the legendary coach Vyacheslav Tikhonov. Many people remember Kuznetsov for his roles in the Russian detective series “Volkov’s Hour”, “Alexander Garden-2”, “Rublyovka Live”, “Family Secrets”. In total, Vladimir Alekseevich’s filmography includes more than 40 works in film and television.

Shone on stage, but did not like publicity

Vladimir Kuznetsov – bright and charismatic on stage – in life was a calm and modest person who did not like publicity. Almost nothing is known about his family and personal life.

Vladimir Alekseevich died on May 12, 2023, the famous Soviet and Russian actor was 79 years old. The bereavement was reported in Lenkom – the theater management and stage colleagues expressed their condolences to Kuznetsov’s family and friends.

“A bright, charismatic actor was remembered by the audience for many, and not only the main, roles in the cinema and, of course, on the Lenkom stage. Vladimir Alekseevich took part in the iconic performances of our theater directed by Mark Zakharov, Andrei Tarkovsky and others, – wrote in the theater group in social networks. – We express our most sincere condolences to the family, relatives, friends and colleagues of the wonderful actor. Everlasting memory!”

Farewell to the artist will take place on May 16 in the funeral hall of the Botkin hospital. The causes of death were not specified.
